Where do computers come from?
And how their binary code language is linked to traditional crafts such as weaving?
Join us for a double talk by Professor Ann Dooms (VUB) and by designer and researcher Amandine David to discover how today’s technologies are anchored in past crafts.
Ann Dooms (PhD in mathematics, 2004) is professor at the Department of Mathematics and Data Science of the VUB, where she leads the research group Digital Mathematics (DIMA). The group works on the mathematical foundations for digital data science, where Ann is specialised in information forensics and security.
Amandine David is designer and researcher whose work celebrates sharing as a methodology and opportunity to redefine design processes. Her research is located at the crossroad of traditional crafts and digital practices.
