*The Fixed Point : Bozar*

*2021*

*Steel plate, chalk*

*180 x 60 x 1 cm*

Take a sheet of paper from a notepad and crumple it. Then smooth it out and place it back on the pad…

At least one point has returned to its original spot.

This simple *fixed-point theorem* is applied in many mathematical and scientific fields.

Michel Tombroff’s work is another illustration of a fixed-point theorem.

Wherever this scale model of the BOZAR Lab is placed in the exhibition room, there will always be a single point on the steel plate that is perfectly aligned with its actual location in the room.

This point is indicated by the cross drawn on the plate.
